Beach, Bitch, Please! Photography Exhibit by Jana Abrams

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you and invite you to my first solo photography exhibition, Beach, Bitch, Please!, taking place August 8–12, 2026, at Piques and Valleys Studio and Gallery in Dundas, Ontario.
Photography has been part of my creative life for many years, giving me a way to capture beauty, humour, atmosphere and the stories that reveal themselves when we slow down and look through a different lens. I was honoured when one of my photographs was selected for the 2025 Female Eye Film Festival’s opening-night photography exhibition, inspiring me to share more of my work publicly.
The movies and the beach have always been my two happy places, where I could inhale the promise of the future and exhale what no longer served me from the past—each equally inspiring and reflective in its own magical way. Through this collection, I’m delighted to share some of my favourite beaches from around the world - places that have inspired me, grounded me and continually reminded me of the beauty of seeing the world through a different lens. Sharing my favourite beaches with my favourite bitches only seemed fitting! And after all, it’s always nice to hold onto a little piece of summer all year round :)
This exhibition is especially meaningful because it also marks the public launch of Divalopment Productions, my new production company dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women of all ages, with a particular focus on women 40+, BEHIND the camera.
For more than twenty years, through JATA, I have worked to support artists in front of the camera. Divalopment is the next evolution of that work: helping more women develop, lead and tell their own stories as directors, producers, writers, cinematographers and creative decision-makers.
While women make up more than half the population, they remain significantly underrepresented in many of the key creative roles that shape what audiences ultimately see. Every Divalopment production and initiative is built on one simple belief:
When we change who’s behind the camera, we change the stories the world sees.
All proceeds from the exhibition will go directly to Divalopment Productions, supporting our mission to expand opportunities for women in film and television leadership.
I’m also excited to share more at the opening reception about the vision behind Divalopment and how this exhibition is helping launch a movement devoted to advancing women as storytellers, creators and industry leaders.
Your presence would mean so much to me, and I would love to celebrate this exciting new chapter with you.
